This group focuses on the use of ICT as process and product for the aim of teaching and learning. The main research focus is on using innovative technologies for improving the quality of instruction and overcoming/solving educational problems trough such technologies. The research group is interested firstly on applied, secondly on theoretical aspects of instructional technologies. Innovative application of using technology in education, creating online learning environments, determining the ever-changing infrastructural requirements including human, hardware and software needs for successful distance education/e-learning environments are some of the research fields under study.

Some of the research agenda of the group could be listed as;

1. Communication Technologies in Distance Education/E-Learning;
The communication technologies used in distance education are under investigated. The basic technology elements such as hardware, networks and software are identified. The characteristics of networking technologies and tools used to mediate the teaching and learning in e-learning environments, as well as in the administration of distance education are analyzed. The required networking components of a e-learning system are investigated to improve such systems in terms of availability, access, response time, mobile communication technologies and system security.

2. Courseware Design in Distance Education/E-Learning Systems;
Analyses and implementation, design and development of web components of e-learning systems. Software components of a full functional e-learning web-site are investigated and developed. Different software platforms, advanced programming and coding options for enhanced e-learning systems is under this focus of this field

3. Infrastructural Requirements of Distance Education/E-Learning Environment;
Investigates in-depth the setting and application of network (hardware and software) requirements to enhance practice and performance in e-learning environments.

4. Teaching and Learning in Distance Education/E-Learning Environments;
Exploration of the online teaching and learning dynamics. Topics under the focus of this field include philosophical frameworks; instructional, social, and cognitive presence; interaction, collaboration, and participation; community and engagement; and administration and management.

5. The use of Multimedia in E-Learning Web-sites;
A study of multimedia presentations as essential, strategic components of an organization’s competitive Web presence. Established principles of software development, emphasis is on Web pages that include video, animation and other multimedia components. Topics include standards for representing common media formats, compression algorithms, file format translation tools, hardware requirements and standards, system constraints, Java and other coding options.

6. Assessment in E-Learning;
Investigation of assessment tools and options in e-learning systems. Online delivery and assessment systems to enhance the measurement and evolution in e-learning environments.
