Abstract: Musical conductors command the orchestra through various information channels. These channels are; the right hand, the left hand, the facial expression and the body movements. The conductor is able to manage volume, tempo and style of a piece by either addressing the entire orchestra, or a specific musician. The main goal of this thesis is capturing musical conducting on an orchestra through various sensor channels, including 8-channel EMG measurements collected from the left arm of the conductor, and then converting the captured information to a symbolic representation to measure
causalities between the conducting, musical scores, and the performance of the orchestra for evaluating to what extend the orchestra obeyed the conductor or the scores.
