Accessing the Assignment:
- You must access the assignment via ODTÜClass. The 'Assignment 1 Download' link will redirect you to a download page. Please follow the instructions below carefully.
Important Guidelines:
1. Platform Requirement:
- Complete your homework using Microsoft Office products on a Windows operating system. Avoid using Ubuntu or any Unix-based platforms, as our tool may not read your homework properly, resulting in zero points.
2. Customized Files:
- Each student's homework file is unique and contains your student ID embedded within it. Do not share your file with others! Sharing will result in both you and the recipient receiving zero points for the assignment.
Steps After Downloading the Assignment File:
1. Unzip the File:
- Before making any changes, first UNZIP the file to your desired location on your file system.
2. Make Required Changes:
- Follow the assignment description to make the necessary changes and save the file without changing its name.
3. Save Your Work:
- Ensure that you save the file after making all the necessary changes. If your file size exceeds 2 MB, it won’t be evaluated by the system. Check your file size before submitting.
4. Upload Instructions:
- Upload the original Microsoft Word file you downloaded. Do not create a new file, as the downloaded file is unique to your student ID. Uploading a different file will result in zero points.
5. File Format:
- The system only accepts files with '.doc' or '.docx' extensions. Do not attempt to upload a zip file!
6. Resubmission Option:
- If needed, you can re-upload your assignment to the system. Your previous submission will be replaced by the new upload.
The deadline for Assignment 1 submission is 30.11.2025 (Sunday) 23:55. Any submission that is later than 01.12.2025 23:55 will be discarded by the system. You are responsible for submitting early so that you are not affected by last-minute system glitches.

Regarding Students Who Could Not Attend the IS100 September Exemption Exam
For students who could not attend the IS100 Exemption Exam due to various reasons, please see the information below:
Groups of students who missed the exam

Students whose registration or transfer procedures (yatay geçiş / adaptation) were not yet completed

Students who objected to the EPE results on September 12 and passed the preparatory class after objection
-
Students who will skip the preparatory class by taking the EPE exam on October 3
-
Students who did not have an active student account, therefore could not receive the exam email and could not access the exam on ODTUClass
Opportunities for these students

If the course is assigned to you in the system:

You can take the course and pass it by collecting sufficient points.

If the course is assigned to you but you do not want to take it:

You may submit a petition to drop the course.

Once your situation is confirmed and approved, you will be allowed to take the IS100 Exemption Exam in February (one-time only).

If the course is not assigned to you:

You will also be allowed to take the IS100 Exemption Exam in February (one-time only).

Students may also share this announcement with their advisors to explain their situation and keep them informed.
In addition, before the IS100 Exemption Exam in February, students in these situations must send us an email again to confirm their status. Otherwise, they may not be included in the exam participant list.
IS100 PROFICIENCY EXAM (September 21, 2025)
IS100 Introduction to Information Technologies and Applications is a non-credit but mandatory course that all METU students have to take during their undergraduate education. Students entering METU who pass the English Proficiency Exam (EPE) and obtain first-year standing have the opportunity to exempt themselves from this course by taking the IS100 Proficiency Exam on September 21 and scoring at least 60 out of 100.
The exam will have three sections: Section 1, Section 2, and Section 3.
* Students with last names starting A–H: Section 1 (starts at 18:30)
* Students with last names starting I–P: Section 2 (starts at 18:35)
* Students with last names starting R-Z: Section 3 (starts at 18.40)
The exam will be available at: http://odtuclass.metu.edu.tr/
All students who are eligible to take the exam will receive a reminder email on 19–20 September. Registration will be possible after this email.
Students who log in to ODTÜClass successfully and answer the Registration Question will be considered registered. The registration deadline is 21 September, 17:00.
